Hydraulic lift for a low-rise building

Hydraulic Lift

Hydraulic

A fluid-driven piston lift for low to mid-rise buildings — a practical solution where a machine room above the shaft is not available.

Hydraulic lifts use a fluid-driven piston rather than ropes and a machine room overhead, making them suitable for buildings where the structure above the top floor cannot support the load or where an overhead machine room is not possible. The power unit is located in an adjacent or remote room at the lowest landing. We specify pump capacity, cylinder type and fluid system to the building's travel and load requirements.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked
Questions

A hydraulic lift uses a pressurised fluid system to raise and lower the car. An electric pump drives hydraulic oil into a cylinder, extending a piston that pushes the cab upward. Descent is controlled by releasing the oil back to a reservoir.
Hydraulic lifts are most practical for buildings up to 6 – 8 floors (approximately 20 metres travel). For greater heights, traction-based systems are more energy-efficient.
Our hydraulic lifts are specified up to 6,000 kg, making them well-suited for heavy goods, vehicles and industrial applications where traction systems would be over-engineered.
Yes — hydraulic lifts typically travel at 0.3 – 0.5 m/s. For low-rise industrial and car parking applications, this speed is entirely practical and reduces mechanical complexity.
A small machine room or cabinet housing the hydraulic power unit is required, but it does not need to be directly above the shaft — it can be located at ground level adjacent to the shaft.
